Breaking Boundaries 2

I have been organising my event, theLongLine, a Polyorama, a never ending, interlinked landscape drawing.

Sadly Jealous Gallery in Crouch End, London, were just too busy to host it in October, as that is art fairs month, and they also host their own graduate prize then.

I have secured the Original Gallery in Hornsey Library, N8, exact date still to be confirmed. It's a good space, and in recent years there has been an ambitious programme of exhibitions there. In 2000, I organised an exhibition there of artworks from my daughter's secondary school, entitled Look. There was a competition too, with certificates and donated prizes. Then I had somehow managed to negotiate the space for free for a week, but this time I think I will have to pay, although it will be at a reduced rate.

I am still thinking of this as a one day event, especially as I am getting married later in October, so might be a bit busy. However, I have though alot about making this a prototype, a repreatable and growable venture. There are many elements to it that sit well with plans I have had for a while, and with future plans. I am finding the MA a great focus for such things, above all, in making the right time now.

I have also put in an application for funding to the Arts Council for this. I last applied to them a few years ago, to no success. However, I have since completed many other applications for funding, and learned alot through other ways how to fill in these things. I understand much more what they are looking for, and how to match my own intentions with the funder's policies. Anyway, I have sent it, and will hear in a few weeks. If not, I guess I will again somehow find the money from my own budget. It will not cost a great deal, but it is something. With a little funding I could really maximise the whole thing, get its website live, properly source and deal with materials instead of being miraculously resourceful.

I am also finding a great overlap in projects. Using theViewergallery as my umbrella self/organisation for this opens up other plans and ideas which may involve other people in time. As soon as I have a few things confirmed I have a call to artists prepared to send, inviting Fine Art animations and Moving Image pieces featuring drawing. I have been reviewing various ways of doing this from submissions I have myself sent before for screenings.

The screening is called theProgressiveImage, and is another repeatable, growable vehicle for work by myself and others. I am working on writing a statement for theProgressiveImage, creating the context in which I want to see and show such work. I have to say I am delighted with my title, as it is full of meaning and potential. I hope to develop various ways of showing and promoting Moving Image through this, starting with my one day event.

For the MA Breaking Boundaries, I am borrowing various advice and procedures in suggested ways of creating feedback and evaluation, from The Big Draw, among others. I have ideas to make that through another drawing project there.
