There are many ways I could subvert the framing and size conventions, but none have as yet struck me as integral to this work. I want the viewer to be drawn in to the layers of imagery and not to be distracted by the form or formation they appear in - that is all within the work.

I have made framing part of the work, using a variety of frames, including remade windows, which are definitely not an invisible setting, but are developed as part or an extension of the stills they show.
Here are some frames I made earlier:

Framing is a setting, and can be a paradigm or frame of thought, even in art. By placing works in glass frames and displaying them on walls, we convey to them a value and worth. Framing also has psychological meanings, when we see though and understand concepts through a frame of reference, and reframe our views and attitude when we take on information. I think these ideas fully apply to art and the actual process of putting work in a frame.
I discussed framing during a recent MA task:
I have really enjoyed the framing work and process with the Embedded stills, even though working on the windows was a bit appalling. Will document and post images.
